Airhead Book 1 Meg Cabot 9780545040525 Books

There was some good writing in the book as well as some significant plot holes. However, the biggest problem was the abrupt ending. It seemed like the decision was made to make the book part of a series, but instead of having each novel stand on its own, the author just finished a chapter and decided the next chapter would be in the second novel.

If you do want to read it, make sure you have all three books before you start or you will be sorely disappointed.

I bought Airhead for my because I wanted to get a sense of Meg Cabot's writing for young adults. I didn't expect anything. In fact, I thought I would scan the book, nothing more. I was pleasantly surpised. The premise of this story about nerdy Emerson Watts who suddenly finds herself transported into the body of supermodel Nikki Howard is outragesouly silly on the face of it. And yet I continued reading. If you are looking for a fun tale with extremely likeable characters, this novel is worth a try. If it were summertime, I would say it's a perfect beach read.
I am a real fan of Meg Cabot (though I didn't care as much for the regencies she wrote as Patricia Cabot.) I didn't realize when I pre-ordered this book that it was intended for her younger age group series.

Even though it focused around high school, I found that I still enjoyed the book. I was a bit shocked at the accident, fully expecting that it would be more of a "Freaky Friday" plot. Accepting the consequences was a bit difficult and why I rated it a 4 instead of a 5. I still wish somehow it could come right at the end and knowing that it can't makes it a little less enjoyable for me.

Apart from that, I found the humor to be as enjoyable for someone my age as for a teenager. I will consider buying more from this series.
Fun, light, decent YA novel, teenage-fantasy based. A lot of repetition of character's theme, and written in the vernacular of teen-speak. Harmless and amusing. I bought the rest of the series after I read this. Nice to have light reading in our troubled world.
For about a year since the release of Airhead I was in the dark as to what the big twist was in Airhead. And now that I know I think it's a great and clever concept! And can you believe it, my first Meg Cabot book ever and what a fun one to start with!

I loved the character of Emerson Watts, she and I, we would definitely be friends. She doesn't mess with all the girly primping and rituals and it sure baffles her little sister Frida (great names in this family). She has a best friend that she might want to be a little bit more with if only he would notice she was a girl. Thrown in the videogame Journeyquest and they are happy as clams.

Both to Em's and Frida's annoyance they set off to the Stark Megastore ( I sort of see it as a cross between Virgin Megastore and Walmart) and something horrible and very very unexpected happens. When Em comes to she doesn't yet know it but her whole entire world has changed and that's all I will say about that....

Meg Cabot writes in such a way that my face was glued to the page, when I was reading I wasn't aware of anything else around me and all of a sudden released I had read 50 pages! (And that's a lot for me in one sitting) I really liked how many different things were happening in the story, it was a mix of romance, living the high life, high school, sci-fi, humor, and taking down the man. What a fun story she weaves!

I think my only complaint would be that Cabot repeats herself A LOT. It seemed like every chapter or so Em would list all the problems she was having and I'm not really sure what the point of it was, in that sense Em came off as a little whiny.

All in all an exciting and humorous start to a fun series!
Runaway is the third and final book in the Airhead YA trilogy by Meg Cabot.

PLEASE do not read the review of this book if you haven't yet read Airhead and Being Nikki - it will have all sorts of spoilers for the uninitiated!

Anyway, Runaway starts shortly after Being Nikki left off - the recently-revealed-psycho Brandon has Em held hostage, basically, because he has threatened to tell his father, president of Stark Enterprises, where the real Nikki is (and that she's alive in another girl's body) if Em doesn't go along with his crazy plan to get whatever info Nikki has that made her killable in order to take down his father (because he doesn't like him anymore than Em does). Oh, yeah, and his oh-so-great plan to force Em to pretend to be his girlfriend.

Doesn't get more insane than that. Especially for a guy as dumb as Brandon.

From there, some pretty darn exciting stuff starts happening. Stuff that I don't want to spoil by hinting at here. I'll just say that Em certainly doesn't take her hostage situation lying down - and romance is not dead - though it might be highly frustrating (but when is it not?)! Runaway is as stock full of hot guys as the last two books in the series, which is never a drawback.

If you've already read Airhead and Being Nikki (and you better have if you are reading this!), then you certainly don't need me to convince you to read it.

It's as laugh-out-loud funny, entertaining, spooky, and suspenseful as the last two - with a massive twist near the end to tie the whole thing into a big bow of love to the fans.

Though I was sad that the trilogy was over, I was happily satisfied with the end. Of course, I wouldn't have said no to a few more pages. But that's a common complaint of mine when a book I really like/love is over.

There were a couple of plot lines I saw coming - but the thing about Meg Cabot's writing is, it's so fun that the destination isn't even the best part - it's the great characters, romance, and zippy lines that scream, "MEG CABOT!".

What are you waiting for??? Go read Runaway!
