The Dark Ones is a reading experience of new sorts. Imed joins forces with a team of angels after being released from prison. Here he meets the wonderful Vanessa and many others he becomes close to while training for battle. Darius is his mentor but fails to fill him in on all details and their time gets cut short by the opposing team of angels, the soul assassins. Both sides are brutally strong and a force to be reckoned with. Although is it really a fight between good and evil, or are these just angels trying to be more powerful? Does this God even know what is happening, or are there jealous angels at work trying to do their own bidding? Which side is really out to do good for their master, and which side is trying to corrupt the human race? Imed has to figure this all out and decide what and who he's is fighting for.Demetrius O. Davis is a brilliant author; I also read his book "Four Word" and had trouble putting it down. He has an undefined attention to extreme detail and leaves you not knowing what to expect next. One thing can be said that his books are never what you think and he will keep you guessing till the end. His manner of writing is intriguing and enjoyable. He makes it easy to place yourself within the pages of his book and enjoy the ride. I look forward to reading more of his powerful one of kind books in the future. It is always a thrilling experience.

The Dark Ones
Demetrius O. Davis
Lazie Horse Publishing (2011), Edition 1st, Paperback, 304 pages
I tried to give this book a chance. Really. After three separate starts I found myself unable to get even halfway through before having to put it down in dismay. The story may have had some worthy potential, but I couldn't get past the grammatical and spelling errors to engage the tale.
Lazie Horse Publishing may be a half step removed from vanity press. In this case even a vanity press would probably have provided more professional editorial service and advice, from which he would richly benefit.
